Spotlight The Band live: indie rock, turned all the way up.
Chennai's alternative and indie rock band Spotlight The Band brought their high-energy live show and original tracks to Aura Studios for the Chai Kings Studio Indie Music Festival. Here's the story of the night, the band behind it, and where to catch them next.
A small room built for a big sound.
The Chai Kings Studio Indie Music Festival turns Aura Studios into an intimate concert room, with independent artists on one side and people who came only to hear them on the other. There is no barricade, no back row and no distance between the stage and the crowd.
Presented by Chai Kings Studio and running from 19 September to 18 October, the line-up was curated by Girinandh C, a composer and the proprietor of Aura Studios. On 26 September, Spotlight The Band brought one of the loudest, most energetic sets of the season to that stage, and 35 people turned up to watch, every one of them a few steps from the amps, close enough to feel the drums and catch every guitar line.
We want people to hear the music, see the artist, feel the energy and be part of the room.Chai Kings Studio
Who is Spotlight The Band?
Spotlight The Band is an alternative and indie rock band from Chennai, known for high-energy live performances and original tracks. Their sound moves between alternative rock, indie rock and pop: big hooks, driving rhythms and songs written to be played loud in a room full of people.
The band grew out of Chennai's school and college culturals circuit, with members coming up through SRM Institute of Science and Technology, AM Jain College and Dawn School. That culturals-stage energy still runs through every set: tight, loud and built around the crowd.
